Check List

Save yourself a lot of grief ...  Before you begin to setup any dialup internet connection make sure you have the following details from your service provider:

• Username - Entered in lower case... no capitals
• Password.
• Access Telephone Number.
• Help Line Telephone Number.
• Domain Name of the ISP.
• DNS Primary.
• DNS Secondary - Where needed
• Mail Server Names
• News Server Name - if any.
• Proxy and No Proxy Settings - if any.
• Type of account.
• Authentication method for passwords - Usually PAP

At this point in time you should also check that you have a functioning modem and telephone line.
